The Air Cadet Program

The Cadet Program is a peer-led program that is open to all youth and offers a safe, yet challenging environment focused on unique activities that leave a positive lifelong impact. The aim of the Canadian Cadet Organization is to develop confident, self-sufficient leaders who are engaged in their communities, while promoting physical fitness and healthy, active living; and the development of young Canadians from all walks of life – building citizenship, leadership, community service and other foundational life skills that benefit their communities and the civilian or military careers they pursue. 

​By joining the program, your child can expect to learn about various subjects including Leadership, Aviation, Meteorology, Survival, Drill, Aerospace, Airport Operations.

Local Training

Air Cadet Training is divided into five proficieny levels, including on-the-job training for senior cadets. Some of the courses offered to Air Cadets at the local level are:

  • aeronautical facilities

  • aircraft identification

  • aircrew survival

  • airframe structure

  • citizenship

  • drill

  • effective speaking

  • general cadet knowledge

  • physical fitness

  • sensible living

  • marksmanship

  • principles of flight

  • propulsion

  • meteorology

Summer Training

The thrill of gliding and flying provides the backbone of the Air Cadet program. Each year nearly 600 deserving Air Cadets receive flying and gliding scholarships. The remainder learn valuable life skills and important values like mutual respect, integrity and professionalism through lessons in navigation, theories of flight and aircrew survival.
