Our program starts in the beginning of September and ends in early June. While we do have a portion of training available for youth in the summer, this particular portion is elective, and cadets have to be accepted.

In order for participants to be eligible to join the Air Cadet Program, the participant will have to meet the following requirements:

• be not less than 12 years old but not have attained his/her/their 19th birthday;
• not belong to another cadet corps or squadron;
• be a Canadian citizen or a lawful resident of Canada;
• be medically, physically and psychologically fit to join Cadets and participate in related training and/or activities;
• be covered by a government or private health insurance plan;
• be of good moral character;
• be acceptable to the cadet corps or squadron Commanding Officer.

Joining Requirements

Fees

The Air Cadet Program is committed to keeping costs low for all participants. Fundraising activities, primarily tagging, support exciting optional and mandatory activities throughout the training year. Annual fees are collected by the Ontario Provincial Committee (OPC) to help cover important community-building and administrative aspects of the program, including insurance for the cadets when on optional training/trips and during tagging, as well as the opportunity to have familiarization flights in OPC owned and maintained Air Cadet Aircraft (gliders and occasionally powered aircraft).

Financial Accommodation

No one will be denied entry into the cadet program for financial reasons. If you require financial accommodation or would like to discuss OPC fees, please do not hesitate to contact the Sponsoring Committee Chair or Commanding Officer. All inquiries will be held in the strictest confidence.

Annual Fee

The annual OPC registration fee of $125.00 per cadet is payable by cash, cheque, or E-Tranfer to the 707 Marion Orr Air Cadet Squadron Sponsoring Committee at 707.treasurer@aircadetleague.on.ca

Other Expenses

Other expenses may come up throughout the training year. For example, a fee will be collected to help cover the cost of the Squadron
Mess Dinners.

Additionally, when March Break trips are offered, a supplementary cost is levied for participating cadets. This amount varies and depends on the fundraising accomplished that training year, as well as the location and duration of the trip.
